Two-Day Introduction to Fly Fishing Clinic: $595*


This class combines the fundamentals of fly casting with practical on-stream experience and is designed for the person who wants a more in-depth introduction to the sport.  Saturday consists of our One-Day Casting Clinic and covers the disciplines described for that class.  We spend Sunday on our private trout stream and bass lake.  

You will learn basic stream ecology, fly selection (matching the hatch), reading water and aquatic entomology.  Your instructors will demonstrate how to fish the three major types of flies (dry's, nymphs and streamers) on moving water and how to land a fish on a fly rod.  Sunday afternoon you will have an opportunity to catch your first fish on a fly as your instructors guide you.

We provide all equipment and you may choose to take home a new Scott A2 fly rod, Ross Flystart reel spooled with Scientific Angler backing, line and leader.

One Day Basic Casting Clinic:  $195

Our one day clinic focuses on the fundamentals of fly casting. It is designed for beginning casters who want to get started the right way in a relaxed atmosphere with patient instructors. The origins and history of fly fishing along with terminology, knot tying and tackle selection will also be covered.  You will also master basic casting and line handling techniques with the aid of video analysis.

One-Day Saltwater School &
Intermediate Casting Techniques Clinic:  $195


This class is for anglers who are ready to take the next step in their fly fishing education.  It is an introductions to saltwater fly fishing, the fastest growing discipline in our sport plus a technique clinic designed to improve your casting.  We will discuss the saltwater ecosystem, tides and currents, saltwater knots and equipment.  Techniques covered will include: casting weighted line, shooting line single and double hauls, quick casts, curve casts, wind casts and fighting big fish.

Basic Spey Casting

Spey casting is a two-handed casting technique that has experienced a resurgence over the past few years.  It continues to gain in popularity as people learn about the advantages it presents.  In this class you will focus on the major casts: the Roll, Switch, Single, Double, Snap T and Snake Roll. 

We will provide all the needed equipment, continental breakfast and a hearty lunch.

Entomology for Fly Fishermen

The more you know about what trout eat, the more successful you will be as a fisherman.  This class is taught by Steve Harry, our bug expert, and is usually combined with a guided trip.  Steve will show you how to collect and analyze stream samples, determine what species of aquatic or terrestrial insects are likely to be found in a particular stream, how to tell which species are being fed upon and how to “match the hatch” with the correct fly.

We will supply all needed equipment, continental breakfast and a hearty lunch.
